Job Role Summary
The Buyer Planner is responsible for managing the procurement and planning of medical supplies, equipment, and purchase services for supply chain procurement operations at Eskenazi Health. This role involves developing procurement plans, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods. The Buyer Planner will work closely with clinical, operational and administrative staff to ensure that procurement activities align with the organizational standards and regulatory requirements.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Proactively contributes to Eskenazi Health Mission: Advocate, Care, Teach and Serve with special emphasis on the vulnerable population of Marion County.
- Oversees the procurement of medical supplies, equipment and purchase services for clinical, operational and administrative departments.
- Manage the procure to pay cycle which includes contract management compliance, purchase order execution, receipt confirmation and invoice payment.
- Execute requisitions, purchase orders, bill-only, consignments, capital, purchase service and special item requests.
- Confirm preferred suppliers through approved group purchasing organization or local contract portfolio.
- Use of enterprise resource planning, online catalog and point of use solutions.
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to understand procurement needs.
- Analyze and report procurement metrics to identify continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, FDA standards and product recall management notifications.
- Establish communication forum and updates regarding open purchase orders, back orders, stock outs, credit holds and supplier disruptions.
- Participate in quality improvement projects related to procurement, supply chain operations and finance.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
- 3-5 years supply chain, manufacture or warehouse experience accepted in lieu of bachelor’s degree.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Understanding of procurement and supply chain principles.
- Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
- Capable of utilizing standard supply chain equipment or resources specific to laptop, scanners, printers, technology and telecom systems.
- Preferred experience in procure to pay processes, contract compliance, SAP Ariba, SAP Fiori, Emergency Care Research Institute (ECRI), Vizient Group Purchasing Organization, Distribution Services, Global Health Exchange, Trackcore and Power BI.
