Eskenazi Health serves as the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 327-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus as well as at 10 Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.

 

Job Role Summary

The Esthetician - PRN performs as a licensed skin care professional who engages solely in helping to restore and maintain the skin’s appearance. This position functions as clinical expert in esthetic role and consults with medical director regarding plans of care for patients and clients as needed.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

•    Proactively contributes to Eskenazi Health’s mission:   Advocate, Care, Teach and Serve with special emphasis on the vulnerable population of Marion County.   Models Eskenazi Health values of Professionalism, Respect, Innovation, Development and Excellence
•    Performs as a licensed skin care professional who engages solely in helping to restore and maintain the skin’s appearance
•    Promotes a healthy work environment
•    Functions as clinical expert in esthetic role and consults with medical director regarding plans of care for patients and clients as needed
•    Maintains clinical competency related to esthetic role, products, procedures and licensure
•    Provides direct patient and client contact for esthetic services
•    Provides consistent high quality customer service
•    Provides skin services to clients and patients to include the following:
o    Skin care consultation and education
o    Facials
o    Chemical Peels
o    Makeup application and instruction
o    Upper body massage
o    Full body massage if certified
o    Facial waxing
o    Under the direction of the medical director and following competency check off the esthetician may provide the following:
    Laser hair removal 
    Microdermabrasion
    Laser skin rejuvenation
    Medical facials or peels
•    Maintains knowledge and competency of esthetic products regarding appropriate use, side effects, contraindications and price points on the following:
o    Cosmetic preparations
o    Antiseptics
o    Lotions
o    Tonics
o    Creams
•    Maintains infection control practices of spa area to include the following:
o    Hand hygiene before and after patient/client contact
o    Cleaning and sanitization of equipment
o    Cleaning and sanitization of tools
o    Maintains area in consistent state of regulatory readiness
•    Maintains documentation for medical records on patients coming for medical spa procedures under the direction of medical director
•    Obtains consent for services
•    Maintains client and patient treatment log for service consistency
•    Tracks ongoing inventory of all products
•    Maintains product ordering and tracking  
•    Maintains responsibility for payment collection for services and products
•    Maintains active and up to date patient and client charges consistently in collaboration with area leadership
•    Registers patients and enters charges into STAR system
•    Maintains patient charge reconciliation procedures 
•    Attends and is active participant in burn and cosmetic plastics clinics 
•    Maintains referral base for clients and patient through clinic settings
•    Collaborates with medical director and marketing on advertisement needs
 

Job Requirements

•    Current esthetician license to practice in the state of Indiana required
•    Massage therapy certification preferred
•    Maintains professional development through a variety of activities such as certifications, ongoing education, conferences, and participation in national organizations where applicable
•    Maintains required annual competency for employment as set forth by institution
•    CPR (BLS) certification required 
•    Minimum of two years esthetician experience-medical setting preferred

•    Demonstrates effective problem solving and critical thinking skills
•    Demonstrates effective communication skills both verbally and nonverbal while working with patients, staff, visitors and other internal and external departmental contacts
