 2021 VolunTEEN Summer Program
(Please read all instructions carefully, incomplete applications will not be considered.)

The 2021 VolunTEEN program is an opportunity for experiential and service learning, providing teens with a chance to gain a realistic perspective of a career in a health care environment. It is also a great way to meet new people and gain community service hours needed for school and scholarships.

Teenagers 14 - 19 years old (must be 14 by Friday, April 9, 2021), who are interested in a career in health care and are in good academic standings, can now sign up for the annual summer VolunTEEN program. This year’s program is placing a special emphasis on observing the health care setting and volunteer service, while providing insight into positions in healthcare, such as nursing, therapy, medicine, administration and other health care professions.  Teens will rotate through a variety of clinical and non-clinical departments, they will be given the opportunity to gain a greater knowledge of careers in health care and the operations of a community focused health system.

The VolunTEEN program will provide shadowing and volunteer experiences for students on a path to becoming health care professionals.  Eskenazi Health Volunteer Services is again offering two summer sessions, applicants may choose one of two sessions, either June 7 – July 2, 2021 (session one) or July 5 – July 30, 2021 (session two).  *Due to the current, evolving pandemic, schedules and activities may be adjusted to accomodate suggested guidlines for safety and social distancing.

Applicants are required to complete the online application, available at the link below.  First time teen applicants must also submit a minimum 500 word essay.  This essay should discuss the applicants aspirations to work in health care, plans to achieve their goals and describe how participating in the VolunTEEN program will help them in their quest.  Essays and a current transcript of grades must be received in Eskenazi Health Volunteer Services no later than Friday, April 9, 2021.  Essays and transcripts received after this date will disqualify a potential participant, even if the application is posted on time.

Please send essay and transcript to:
