Eskenazi Health serves as the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 333-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus including at a network of Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.

Job Role Summary

The HIM Record Operations Technician-Document Imaging provides timely, accurate, and accessible electronic patient information by scanning patient medical records into the Electronic Health Record (EHR).

 

Scheduling : Monday - Friday ; Onsite

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Performs accurate and efficient document preparation, scanning, and indexing for OnBase MRM Document Imaging
  • Retrieves medical record charts from all the units including clinics within Eskenazi Health
  • Understands importance and priority of requests based on requestor
  • Returns files to appropriate location using identified methods for any loose sheets or charts requiring action
  • Assures that all databases (logs, spreadsheets, etc.) are updated to reflect the current status of requests
  • Performs reconciliation for all inpatient charts
  • Utilizes EPIC system to view cross-over documents
  • Scans documents into EPIC via front office scanning
  • Scans medical record documents using high and low speed scanners

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience with document imaging processes in a hospital acute care setting is preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of medical record forms and chart organization
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Ability to discern numbers and names accurately, paying specific attention to detail
  • Familiarity with information systems used at Eskenazi Health including but not be limited to: Hyland OnBase and EPIC is preferred
  • Microsoft Word skills to compose correspondence
  • Ability to proficiently use a Microsoft Windows workstation
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload
  • Ability to work as an effective team member and work well independently
  • Knowledge of mandated retention periods for medical records
