Job Role Summary

The Ryan White HIV Services Program funds a broad network of community-based providers and AIDS Service Organizations to deliver core medical and supportive services to People Living with HIV (PLWH). The program’s primary function is as grant managers and compliance monitors, ensuring programs are implemented in a manner consistent with federal funding requirements. However, we do engage directly with the community in planning for and delivering HIV-related services. 

Associated Job Duties

  • Assisting Program Coordinators with preparation, and creation of Public Health Careers curriculum. 
  • Participate in Ryan White Part A planning council, End the HIV Epidemic (EHE) Task Force and committees.
  • Work with Grant Managers and learn about grant writing, administration, and legislative regulations.  Learn what is necessary to apply for funding from various entities (Federal, State). 
  • Work with the epidemiology department on data trends for PLWH in the Transitional Grant Area (TGA). 
  • Work with the data team to understand the various databases and trends of Ryan White enrolled clients. 
  • Learn about the data entry requirements for CAREWare and RWISE. 
  • Identify other Marion County Public Health Department (MCPHD) programs to partner with for the project. 
  • Work with programs within the Ryan White department 
  • Monitoring – Work with Project and Training Coordinator assisting in monitoring visits and learning the requirements of monitoring. 
  • Engagement Liaison’s – Work with Engagement Liaison’s in finding newly diagnosed and out of care People Living with HIV (PLWH) and linking them to care and help them to navigate the HIV care system. 
  • Minority Health Navigators – Work with the Minority Health Navigators in finding minority populations who are unaware of their status and offering HIV education and testing.  
  • Spend time with selected Ryan White funded service and clinical sites learning how each provider operates and learning how to engage with and serve patients/clients.
  • Participate in health fairs and other events to disseminate information to the public.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Fourth year undergrad student or Graduate student in public health or related field e.g., social work, allied health, nursing 
  • Be actively enrolled in a college or university.

 

  • Authorized to work in the USA.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with subject matter stakeholders.
  • Deliver current, accurate, and appropriate information to identified audience.
  • Help develop, implement and monitor program policies and procedures.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Culturally competent: ability to work in a multi-culture environment.
  • High level of concentration, accuracy, attention to detail
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data.

Working Environment

  • Standard office environment.
  • Exposure to communicable disease, illness, and irate community members.
  • Some physical effort associated with filing, carrying of supplies for health fairs, travel between main office and meetings, program site(s), and health fairs.
